Aren sugar is crafted using a traditional process that’s been passed down for generations. It starts with collecting the sap from the stalk of the Aren Palm Tree (Arenga Pinnata), native to Southeast Asia. Farmers climb trees that can grow up to 30-40 feet tall. They spend days gently tapping the stalk to stimulate sap flow before they can gather the fresh, sweet sap that drips out.
The sap is then slowly heated in small batches over a fire. As it simmers, the liquid thickens into a rich caramel-like syrup. Once it reaches the right consistency, it’s poured into molds or cooked for longer to turn it into grains. No additives, no preservatives. Just pure, natural palm nectar transformed through careful, patient cooking.
The result is a deep, naturally sweet sugar with warm notes of caramel and toffee. It’s less processed than white sugar, full of character, and perfect for coffee, tea, and everyday cooking.
